Stage 1  -  Monday the 30th of April 2018 we started our Coast to Coast Experience.

We walked from St Bees Head to Cleator.

We set off from St Bees Head where we dipped our boots in the Irish Sea, collected our pebbles and walked to Cleator.

We were so lucky with the weather it was bright and sunny but there was a cold wind off the sea. The walk up the coastal path was fabulous with views of the Isle of Man.

Almost back in Cleator now this is a statue of Wainright who devised the walk.

We had a brilliant first day really enjoyed it.

Almost at the end of Ennerdale Water and starting to head up to Black Sail Youth Hostel.

Following some rustling in the trees this sheep emerged to have a good look at us.

After a pleasant break at Black Sail we headed up towards Loft Beck.

After a steady climb up Loft Beck we saw this very welcome view of Buttermere...

We headed down towards Honister and the end of another thoroughly enjoyable day.

We heard  cuckoos calling and woodpeckers drumming..

Almost back in Rosthwaite now after a brilliant walk.

Our Coast to Coast has been delayed due to two family health scares, both now happily resolved with positive outcomes so we are now back on track.
