Monday 29th April 2021 - Litton

Our first walk of the year on the first day post lockdown!!!!     We were all so looking forward to getting out and meeting up again.                                    Still restricted to "Groups of 6" so walks will be repeated each week till June.  

We were hoping for lovely weather but the wind was about 40mph walking up Penyghent Gill from Litton.

We didn't see Penyghent as it was shrouded in mist. The weather didn't beat us and after lunch we started our descent back down into Litton

The weather improved and we even saw the sun in the distance.

These beautiful lambs were in Litton a lovely sign of Spring. Brilliant catching up with everyone and thank you for your company.


Saturday 3rd of April  -  Litton repeat

Off we go again up Penyghent Gill the weather was fabulous and Penyghent soon came into view.

What a fabulous day sunshine and blue sky.

This is the view down into Littondale,  we all had a wonderful day looking forward to many more. 


Wednesday 7th April, we did a walk from Oakworth with a group of six, up to Keighley Moor Reservoir and back for tea and cakes.

Saturday the 10th of April we repeated the Oakworth walk with another group of six.

Here we are just turning onto the moor in lovely sunshine.

Wednesday 7th April we did a walk from Airton near Malham

Here we are on the bridge at Hanlith in lovely Spring sunshine

We walked through Bell Busk and back towards Airton. We all enjoyed a lovely walk and good company.


Saturday the 17th of April we repeated the walk from Airton with a different group of "6".

This is looking down over Kirkby Malham as we climbed the hill heading towards Bell Busk.

Almost in Bell Busk, then up to the trig. point for lunch.

Fabulous views from up here at the Haw Crag trig. point on a beautiful day, thank you all for your company.


Wednesday 21st of April, we set off from Pateley Bridge for a 10.5 mile walk on a lovely day.

We walked up through Bewerley, after having a look at Bewerley Grange Chapel we headed up through Fishponds Wood on our way to Yorke's Folly.

Here we are at the top of the first climb, all still smiling.

We arrived at Yorke's Folly with these fabulous views.

We then walked on Guise Cliffe again enjoying wonderful views. Then round to Heyshaw and down to Dacre Bank to join the river.

We walked along the river back to Pateley Bridge.Another lovely day with excellent company.


Saturday the 24th of April we did the same walk from Pateley Bridge with another group of "6", the weather was beautiful.

This is Fishponds Wood looking towards our lunch spot high up on Guise Cliff.

Lunch stop on the top of Guise Cliff before heading towards Heyshaw.

The long walk back to Pateley Bridge the weather was brilliant along with the company.


Wednesday 28th of April we left Linton Falls car park  for a walk over Boss Moor.

We all enjoyed the walk although the weather was not as good as the forecast.

We also enjoyed a coffee outside the Fountaine Inn in Linton, a lovely end to the walk.


Saturday the 1st of May, we did the Boss Moor walk with another group of 6. The weather was much better with a lovely blue sky.

Half way round the walk with the lovely views all round.

Another lovely day thank you all for your company.


Wednesday 1st of May  we did a fabulous 10.5 mile walk from Aysgarth Falls.

The weather was beautiful as were the views of Wensleydale. We walked on the riverside towards Askrigg.

We then walked up to New Biggin for our lunch stop.

Below  is the view from above New Biggin heading towards Ivy Scar.

We then went through Carperby where the weather changed and we had a hail storm!  Another brilliant walk with excellent company. Thank you.


Due to an extremely bad weather forecast we cancelled our walk on Saturday the 8th of May, we will do it later in the summer.


Wednesday the 12th of May we did a 7.5 mile walk from Gargrave

From Gargrave we walked over lovely paths to East Marton.

Here we are having our lunch stop on the side of the Leeds to Liverpool Canal very calm and peaceful.

We had a very pleasant walk back to Gargrave following the canal. A lovely walk with lots of chatting and laughter. Thanks to you all.


Wednesday  the 2nd June, We did a fabulous walk from Ribblehead on a very hot day.

We walked from Ribblehead to  Chapel le Dale where we had our lunch in the churchyard.

The scenery was brillant

Our first view of the viaduct on our return to Ribblehead what a view! Another great days walking.


Saturday the 5th of June, we did a 9 mile walk from Gargrave, again the weather was brilliant.

We walked from Gargrave to Airton

Then over towards Winterburn

And back to Gargrave ending the walk along the canal. Thank you all for your company.


Wednesday June 9th, we walked up to Capplestone Gate on another beautiful day.

We had a lovely walk back to Kettlewell and enjoyed a very welcome ice-cream. Thank you all for your company.


Saturday the 12th of June, we met in Calton near Airton for a 9.25 mile walk again in lovely weather.

We headed up to Weets Top surrounded by beautiful scenery all the way.

After a lunch stop we turned right towards Winterburn.

We walked round the edge of Winterburn Reservoir and back to Calton. Another lovely day with great company. Thank you.


Wednesday 16th June , we did a 9.25mile walk from Stump Cross Caverns.

From Stump Cross Caverns we walked up Nursery Knot and then down to Grimwith Reservoir.

The weather was perfect for walking

We walked round the reservoir then over the moors and back to Stump Cross.

Here we are at the Stump Cross Caverns in a private "pod" with fabulous views down the valley, where we relaxed and enjoyed a fabulous meal to round the day off. Another wonderful day with lovely people, thank you for your company.  It is well worth a visit to Stump Cross Caverns cafe excellent food and brilliant service.


Saturday the 19th of June we met in Reeth for a 9 mile walk up and over Fremington Edge.

The weather was fabulous, the views were brilliant and the company as always was excellent.

Looking down on Reeth, what a view well worth the climb.

The views just went on and on, below is the cairn at the far end of Fremington Edge.

After our wonderful walk we went to the wonderfully relaxing Burgoyne Hotel in Reeth, we sat in the garden  for tea and scones, jam and cream. Perfect end to a perfect day.
